Various Artists ‚Äď Vagabundos 2012

LABEL: Cadenza Records

FORMAT: LP

GENRE: Dance РHouse

DATE: 30/07/12

‚ÄúVagabundos 2012‚ÄĚ, a compilation album by Luciano is out now through Cadenza Records.

With wide-reaching influences and diverse musical citations from across the dance music spectrum, ‚ÄúVagabundos 2012‚ÄĚ carries the essence of the original Balearic Beat. It is perhaps the modern sound of Ibiza ‚Äď with moments of intense darkness and life-affirming sunshine rhythms, the mix Luciano creates is like a sublime painting of the island which contains all the colours and gradations of the rainbow. From house to techno, to human and machine created rhythms, sweet voices and warped vocals, blissful beach melodies and mind-twisting notes, classic Chicago beats and futuristic grooves, the mix is a deeply absorbing, multi-dimensional electronic fusion. There is so much wonderful density in this small 76 minute package, it seems almost counter-intuitive to dissect it.

Available in the UK and Ireland only.

You can catch Luciano at Cadenza Vagabundos in Pacha, Ibiza, every Sunday from May 17th to October 7th.

Laurel Collective ‚Äď Jelly Bird

LABEL: Tape Club Records

FORMAT: Single

GENRE: Alternative

DATE: 23/07/12

Following the release of their debut album Heartbeat Underground which launched with a stunning show courtesy of Time Out, Laurel Collective are proud to announce they’re treating us to a new single called ‚ÄúJelly Bird‚ÄĚ. Shimmering, psychedelic and carrying a wonderfully executed madness, the track showcases so very perfectly what Laurel Collective are about. Modestly employed synth, tight guitars and an all-out percussion section dominate “Jelly Bird”.

This is the band who, whilst holding down 9 to 5’s (which includes call centres, a phlebotomist, and even producing duties, drummer Charlie Andrew recently produced the new Alt-J record) conceived and curate their own festival: In The Woods. Their tireless superhuman efforts brought to our attention the likes of Micachu and the Shapes, Pete and the Pirates and a beguiling young woman called Anna Calvi; and now they deserve the same attention. Laurel Collective epitomise intelligent music at its best: a witty, diverse and modern take on the indie genre.

Watch the brand new video for “Jelly Bird” here:¬†http://bit.ly/ObaWoX

‚ÄúLaurel Collective rummage through the dressing-up box of pop, subverting here, pushing the boundaries there‚Ķengrossing‚ÄĚ –¬†Q

‚ÄúIf you imagine Metronomy as the uncle of 2011’s bizarre pop uprising, Laurel Collective are undoubtedly a disobedient, prep-schooled cousin; their music a well organized chaos of bleeps, melodies and arrangements in disarray‚Ķ A beautiful disorder from a frantically exciting young band.‚ÄĚ –¬†The Fly
