Artist: Diamond Version
Release: EP1
Label: Mute
Genre: Alternative – Electronic

Diamond Version is a collaborative project between two of the most groundbreaking, experimental and forward thinking creators in modern music, Byetone and Alva Noto. As joint heads of the German-based label Raster-Noton, and with solo projects Alva Noto (Carsten Nicolai) and Byetone (Olaf Bender), they have been releasing work that spectacularly blurs the lines between the visceral and the conceptual, bridging the gap between gallery and dancefloor.

The duo have known one another since they were teenagers growing up in Germany. A common ground proved intuitively easy to tap into. ‘Carsten and I share a strong interest in rhythmic music. We also share an idea of general aesthetic, as in design, and prefer even in music, more and more roughness. With Diamond Version we will follow this rough rhythmic direction, we are not DJs and we’re less interested in delivering a functional music to a social situation’.

Artist: Blue Boats
Release: Summer’s Down
Label: Brapscallions Records
Genre: Alternative

Olly Gale aka Blue Boats releases his hotly anticipated debut single ‘Summer’s Down’. Led by a sun drenched vocal washed with reverb, the track mixes 80s synth pop with 00s surf pop’ and is sure to leave listeners craving the nostalgic feeling of road trips, BBQs and a never-ending summer. With his music being labelled everything from surf pop to dream pop, it takes strong influences from the past but comes out with something exciting and modern.

Currently doing a film degree at University in Bournemouth, Olly somehow manages to take some of his film knowledge and translate cinematic images into his music. Being located by the seaside hasn’t been too rewarding this summer, but has meant Blue Boats’ sound has a beach-tinge to it, although it sounds more like he’s based in Southern California rather than the South Coast of England.

Trade Marketing Case Study: Noisettes – Contact

September, 19th 2012 12:55

Here at Believe, we offer a Trade Marketing service on all of our key releases. A dedicated Trade Marketing team ensures that our releases are presented to digital stores in the UK and around the World (where rights are applicable) a while before release. This ensures that all promotional opportunities that are available can be explored in order to secure the maximum exposure possible for our labels.

Here is an example of a recent success story from the Trade Marketing department.

‘Contact’ was the third studio album from the Noisettes, released on 27th August.  A household name in the UK, the band were highly involved in the 2012 celebrations that took place over the summer. Scheduled performances included The Diamond Jubilee Festival in Battersea Park, the BT River of Music festival and concerts during the Olympic Games.

Trade Marketing approach

Key retailers were sent the album press release and a private album pre- stream link in early July. This raised awareness very early on and allowed time for retailers to approach us with ideas to maximise promotion.

–          ‘Album of the Week’ features were requested in advance with relevant retailers.

–          The product was pitched to all retailers worldwide.

–          A version for Germany, Austria and Switzerland was created with a Friday release with Friday release date to ensure strong coverage.

–          Rdio pre-stream in Germany 26th – 31st August was secured.

Artist: Freeze The Atlantic
Release: Speakeasy
Label: Alcopop!
Genre: Indie Rock / Alternative Rock

Forming in late 2008, ‘Freeze The Atlantic’ have a solid ethos at their core – making rock music and enjoying rock music. Started initially by Andy Gilmour from ‘Hundred Reasons’ with Jon Pearce and Guy Davis, from the band ‘Reuben’, they quickly signed up second guitarist and long time friend Tom Stevens (Archie and the Instincts) and started writing brand new material. After a UK tour in 2010 with ‘Attack! Attack!’ featuring Liv Puente (Laruso) on guest vocals, the band recruited singer Chris J Knott (Twelve Titans). This year also saw original member Jon Pearce leaving for pastures new with the band drafting in bassist Sean Shreeve (Spectrum 7/Talking Endlessly), resulting in the current line-up.

Today marks the release of Freeze The Atlantic’s debut album ‘Speakeasy’. Displaying elements of both Rueben and Hundred Reason’s pop/rock stylistics, the album is as familiar as it is refreshing. Driving rhythms and melody is underpinned with a punk rock ethic that’s impossible to dislodge from your memory.

Wax Tailor – Dusty Rainbow from the Dark

LABEL: Lab’Oratoire

GENRE: Dance – Electro

DATE: 10/09/12

“Dusty Rainbow from the Dark”, the new album by Wax Tailor is out now through Lab’Oratoire.

With this album, the French producer gives us a musical tale inspired in large part by the enchanted world of children. His fourth long player is also a charming allegory on the escapist power of music.

This multicolored fable with an international cast takes us on a wandering path through psychedelic trip-hop and baroque hip-hop. Wax Tailor has redefined his craft, giving us a work that is at once modern and timeless.

Also, one of the strength of this record is certainly to have assembled such a cast (Aloe Blacc, Jennifer Charles, Elzhi, Charlotte Savary, Sara Genn, Shana Halligan, Mattic, Ali Harter, A.S.M, Akua) and manage to utilize them in the context of a plot.

Dave Stewart – The Ringmaster General

LABEL: Rocket Science

GENRE: Rock – Alternative

DATE: 02/09/12

“The Ringmaster General”, the new album by Dave Stewart is out now through Rocket Science.

Stewart creates a potent and distinctive musical gumbo, mixing in rock, blues, country, rhythm & blues and psychedelia in this album. His songs are alternately moving and wry; they are filled with twists and turns–both musical and lyrical–that constantly surprise with repeated listens. Stewart’s voice has an alluringly mysterious quality that guides the listener through these stories of, explains the ringmaster himself, “love, discovery, and…”

Recorded and mixed by John McBride at his famed Blackbird Studio in Nashville, “The Ringmaster General” features 11 new songs, including striking duets with Alison Krauss, Diane Birch and Joss Stone and a duet sung with and co-written by Jessie Baylin. Also featured are the blistering skills of guitarists Orianthi and Tom Bukovac, drummer Chad Cromwell, bassist Michael Rhodes, steel guitarist Dan Dugmore and Mike Rojas on piano – some of the finest musicians in Nashville.
