Believe Releases w/c 25/03/13

March, 25th 2013 13:59

Artist: Nu:Logic
Release:¬†What I’ve Always Waited For
Label: Hospital Records
Genre: : Dance РBreakbeat / Drum & Bass РJungle

Brothers Nu:Tone and Logistics have joined forces to create a fantastic and varied album of soothing D&B of the highest calibre. Nu:Logic is a collaborative partnership between Hospital stalwarts Nu:Tone and Logistics. Individually, the Gresham brothers have released a total of seven long players already on Hospital, each to great critical acclaim. The sum of their combined powers is oozing with the kind of soulful drum & bass, which is the foundation of the Hospital label and will satisfy long term fans who hanker after the golden days of the genre.

Artist: Mala
Release:¬†Noches Sue√Īos
Label: Brownswood Recordings
Genre: Dance РDubstep

2012’s Mala In Cuba saw the DMZ man head out to La Isla Grande for an album’s worth of dubstep-meets-salsa hybrids; the project’s since become one of Mala‚Äôs most successful endeavours to date. Album track ‘Noche Sue√Īos’ has now been given the once-over by broken-beat / 2-step institution Zed Bias. Where Mala’s original was light as a feather, Bias’ take is a much turbulent affair, setting Danay Suare’s vocal line over a shimmering, swung house beat. Mala’s originals were surprisingly rootsy; Bias”dubbed-out edit is properly cosmic.

Artist: Thomas Gandey
Release: The Cube
Label: Southern Fried Records
Genre: Dance РHouse

Southern Fried Records continues its ten-year love affair with the highly talented Thomas Gandey, looking to his latest release, the superb ‘Cube EP Volume 1’ .¬†Thomas Gandey should need little introduction to most. The Bordeaux based live artist, producer and DJ has been a key figure in electronic music for the last decade recording for labels such as Rekids, Get Physical, Saved and of course Southern Fried Records. At the heart of Thomas Gandey’s musical direction is a passion for House music and it is this passion that is the driving force behind ‘The Cube EP Volume 1’.

Facebook Redesign – Cleaner News Feeds

March, 18th 2013 18:01

Facebook is once again changing its interface with a focus on images and giving the user control over their News Feed. We have taken a look at what will be changing and what this means for page owners.

Photos via Techcrunch http://techcrunch.com/2013/03/07/facebook-risks-it-all/

Multiple feeds

The biggest change is going to be to the News Feed with Facebook giving users the option to switch between different feeds. There will now be a dedicated tab for updates from pages you have liked.

All Friends: Shows only posts from your Facebook friends, newest post will appear at the top of the feed.
Music: Shows what your friends are listening to, new albums being released, and recommendations of artists you might like.
Photos: Shows just photos, including photos sent to Facebook through other apps like Instagram.
Following: Shows every post from Pages you Like, as well as updates from users you follow.

There will also be feeds for:
Games
Close Friends
Any of your Interest Lists or Friend Lists

Focus on photos

The photos appear larger in feeds with the recommended width now 552px, making high resolution photos a must.  Larger photos means ads and sponsored stories are likely to perform better than before.

When being recommended to Like a page either through an ad or from your friends activity, you will now see the pages cover photo. This feature has already been rolled out to many profiles and brings new importance to a brands cover photo.

Posting Links

Facebook have recognised many users share links on the site, sharing news stories and often driving traffic back to their own website. They have made a few small changes to make link posts more attractive; thumbnails are bigger along with the title and preview text.

Believe Artists at SXSW 2013

March, 12th 2013 17:48

Believe Digital will be heading to Austin, Texas tomorrow to join the musical craze that is SXSW. We’re excited to meet up with new and old friends, and support our artists who will be playing throughout the week. Here’s a selection of Believe artists that will be participating in this week’s festivities:

Laura Stevenson: This Brooklyn singer/songwriter from Don Giovanni Records will be playing a few shows at SXSW off the momentum from her recent February release, Runner EP. We recommend her show at Holy Mountain Backyard, 617 E. 7th Street on Wednesday at 9 p.m.

Waxahatchee: Also on Don Giovanni, Waxahatchee is an early “breakout” musician of 2013 with her well-received release, Cerulean Salt. She’s on just about everyone’s SXSW must-see lists, so she should be on yours, too. She plays after labelmate Laura Stevenson at Holy Mountain at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday night.

Mitzi: Australia’s Mitzi is a band on Future Classic that produces warm dance tunes. They’re great for an evening on an Austin rooftop, and guess what? They’re playing a rooftop show on Friday night at midnight at 408 Congress Avenue!

Chico Mann:¬†The sounds of Africa have taken multi-instrumentalist Chico Mann‚ÄĒa k a Marcos Garc√≠a‚ÄĒall over the world. So it?s ?tting that after spending years learning to speak Afrobeat, albeit with a Cuban accent, Soundway Records’ Chico Mann has employed several dialects to make a larger musical statement. Mr. Mann will also be at Holy Mountain…he’s doing a DJ set at 8 p.m. on Friday.

California X: Another one of Don Giovanni’s gems, California X is a fantastic live band that is worth a listen. They’re playing a free showcase from the guys at Exploding in Sound (record label and blog). The event will take place all day at The Grackle, and California X is going on at 2:30 p.m.

GHXST: An intriguing grunge/metally/punk NYC band that works with CLUB.THE.MAMMOTH. (label) that’s garnered some extra attention in the last year. We recommend their Thursday night show at 1 a.m. at Townhouse at 303 W. 5th Street.

Delorentos:¬†Dublin-based Delorentos is currently being hailed as one of Ireland‚Äôs finest and most imaginative bands. They just self-released their third album and have had a ton of attention from big publications and radio stations in the U.K. They’re playing at the¬†International Day Stage at the Austin Convention Center on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Kidnap Kid: This Black Butter artist is one of the most buzzed-about electronic artists from England. He’s currently touring the U.S. in support of his latest single, “So Close.” He first made a name for himself last year with his big single “Veil,” which received an iTunes “Best of 2012” title. We recommend his Thursday night show at 10 p.m. at Blackheart, 86 Rainey Street.

Enjoy SXSW, everyone!

From cutting edge foray’s into Minimal and Dubstep, to more mainstream Pop covers. The 1920s never sounded so good.

Artist: Fred V & Grafix
Release: Goggles
Label: Hospital Records
Genre: Dance РBreakbeat / Drum & Bass

Fred V & Grafix, the dynamic duo from Devon, present their debut solo single on Hospital. ‘Goggles’ is a four-track EP featuring the full spectrum of their sound; it’s fresh, fun and jam-packed with exciting, dancefloor-driven beats that should excite and unite D&B fans for 2013.¬†With its unassuming bleep intro, ‘Goggles’ will no doubt take some by surprise with its subterranean sounds, bubbling bass and intricate arpeggios. ‘Games People Play’ ups the ante with a more recognisable Fred V & Grafix aesthetic, followed by ‘Denmark Road’ with its shimmering soundscape and Calibre-esque sweeps.

Artist: Romanthony
Release: Let Me Show You Love

Artist: Waxahatchee

On her second full-length record as¬†Waxahatchee, former P.S. Cerulean Salt¬†is also minimal in its execution; the songs’ structures allow the lyrics to breathe and shine as¬†Crutchfield¬†recalls moments of vulnerability and strength.
