2 bearsArtist: The 2 Bears

Artist: Brontbrontideide
Release: Artery
Label: Holy Roar/Pink Mist
Genre: Alternative

‘Artery’ displays a classy, concise vibrancy. Kaleidoscopic in it’s evolution of sound for the band and in terms of new influences, shards of R’n’B and electronica are now beginning to show through, without ever deviating drastically away from their trademark math/instrumental rock sound.¬†

Brontide have streamlined themselves, slowly but surely, into an entity that is not just entirely unique, but something truly great to be cherished by both the band and music fans worldwide.

kneeArtist: Okain, Cuartero

Release: Cameleon
Label: Knee Deep In Sound
Genre: Dance

Hot Since 82 really can do no wrong. Off the back of last year’s hugely successful LP ‘Little Black Book’, the thought¬≠provoking video for his gorgeous track ‘The End’ and his appearance on the April issue Mixmag cover, Leeds¬≠born producer and man of the moment Daley Padley last month announced his new label, ‘Knee Deep In Sound’.¬†

One release in, and it’s so far so good. His single ‘Don’t Touch The Alarm’ was named Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune (Hot Since 82’s second this year already!) and was received with high acclaim by DJs, the media and ravers alike. Now it’s time to test his metal as an A&R!¬†

So first up to the plate is Okain & Cuartero, a collaboration that sees two of the underground’s hottest producers bang heads, beautifully connecting Paris and Malaga! ‘Cameleon’ is a jackathon of frenetic high¬≠hats, surreal synths and futuristic basslines all scrupulously held together by a monolithic undertone.¬†

“As soon as they boys sent me ‘Cameleon’ I had to have it. It’s a crazy tune, I’ve been playing it out loads and it’ll always be a special track for me as the first record I signed to Knee Deep!”¬†

Remixes come from Daley himself, who turns in some of his finest work to date. You can tell Yorkshireman’s been reveling the 5 ¬≠hour minimum DJ sets; this is straight up 4am journey business! And as if that was enough, Paul Ritch delivers a Carl Craig¬≠esq rework fit for a King. Think Amnesia Terrace at 9am!¬†

hook and twinArtist:Hook & The Twin

Genre: Dance

Following the success of their epic debut album Never Ever Ever, Hook & The Twin are set to add one final extra chapter Рa four-track remix EP Animals, released on 23rd June 2014 through Cold Specks’ Dancing Coins imprint. Hook & The Twin are very proud to be featuring two of their favourite new producers on the new EP. Irish-born producer The Cyclist‚Äôs fuzzy tape throb psychedelia is very much influenced by Boards of Canada and early Warp artists, an ‚Äėattempt to get to a time in electronic music, where everything‚Äôs warmer‚Äô in his own words. With debut album Bones In Motion released on Flying Lotus‚Äô Brainfeeder offshoot Leaving Records/Stones Throw, and a second in the pipeline, his music as The Cyclist and alias Buz Ludzha has recently garnered rave reviews in Pitchfork, XLR8R, FACT, and Resident Advisor.

frikstailers 2Artist: Frikstailers
Release: Crop Circles EP
Label: ZZK Records
Genre: Dance РBreak & Beats

Argentina’s Frikstailers return to planet Earth with their new six-track EP that pairs cosmic synths with funky, frenetic cumbia beats fused with electronic mayhem designed to move terrestrial butts worldwide.

If anything characterizes these adventurous producers, it’s the absence of easy formulas. This time around, the duo – now based in Mexico City – pushes the limits of electronic music by applying a heavy dose of extraterrestrial synthesizers to the lush organic Latin beats that have seen them rock parties from London’s Boiler Room to Mexico’s Vive Latino.¬†

On “Intro Orbital,” the Frikstailers make contact, inviting listeners to take a step back from reality and into an ethereal sonic landscape that will launch them straight into the sweaty dance floor madness of “Crop Circles.” Once beamed up, it’s on to the Amazonian acid dub landscapes of “Omeprazol.” Later, the arpeggiated synths of “Kepler” lead listeners towards playful drums and vocals buried deep in a tropical outer-space jungle.

Genre: Dance РHouse РDeep

Graham Luckhurst aka GREYMATTER is one of the three original resident producers of WOLF Music, alongside KRL and Medlar.

little cometsArtist: Little Comets
Release: Salt
Label: The Smallest Label
Genre: Alternative- Indie Pop

Salt laments the loss of child amidst a backdrop of case reviews and caustic barbs at stretched social infrastructures suffered at the hands of those wielding the financial might. Melding brutality and fragility with unforgiving commitment, supplemented by a duplet of songs about parenting and judgment couple with a pair of acoustic remouldings; ‘Salt’ is another staunch demonstration of writing from the gut.

lenzmanArtist: Lenzman

Release: Looking at the Stars
Label: Metalheadz
Genre: Dance/Break Beats РDrum & Bass

June 2014 – Lenzman’s debut album ‘Looking At The Stars’ on the seminal London-based imprint Metalheadz.

The album arrives with all the aplomb you would expect from the Dutch producer. The project concerns itself with all types of human soul- from introspection to confidence to doubt. If there was word you could put to it – it would be honesty. It’s certainly a refreshing outlook in this ‘fast-food’ landscape of modern music that surrounds us.
