The 2 Bears return from the woods with a bumping piano house banger Angel (Touch Me), the lead single from their forthcoming album The Night Is Young. With the original already getting much airplay the Bears have drafted in Jakwob and Mele on remix duties, whilst also giving us another outstanding version by themselves…
‘Artery’ displays a classy, concise vibrancy. Kaleidoscopic in it’s evolution of sound for the band and in terms of new influences, shards of R’n’B and electronica are now beginning to show through, without ever deviating drastically away from their trademark math/instrumental rock sound.¬†
Brontide have streamlined themselves, slowly but surely, into an entity that is not just entirely unique, but something truly great to be cherished by both the band and music fans worldwide.
Parakeet formed in 2011 and are fronted by Mariko Doi (YUCK) and James Llewellyn Thomas (The History of Apple Pie). They self released their Tomorrow 7″ in early 2012, their Shonen Hearts EP came after which led to a European tour with DIIV and support slots with the likes of Wavves and The Walkmen. After releasing a special compilation exclusive to Japan on the esteemed PVine label in 2013, accompanied by a tour including a sellout show at Tokyo’s ONest, Parakeet now release the Pink Noise EP via Marshall Teller Records this June to already huge critical acclaim.
Hot Since 82 really can do no wrong. Off the back of last year’s hugely successful LP ‘Little Black Book’, the thought¬≠provoking video for his gorgeous track ‘The End’ and his appearance on the April issue Mixmag cover, Leeds¬≠born producer and man of the moment Daley Padley last month announced his new label, ‘Knee Deep In Sound’.¬†
One release in, and it’s so far so good. His single ‘Don’t Touch The Alarm’ was named Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune (Hot Since 82’s second this year already!) and was received with high acclaim by DJs, the media and ravers alike. Now it’s time to test his metal as an A&R!¬†
So first up to the plate is Okain & Cuartero, a collaboration that sees two of the underground’s hottest producers bang heads, beautifully connecting Paris and Malaga! ‘Cameleon’ is a jackathon of frenetic high¬≠hats, surreal synths and futuristic basslines all scrupulously held together by a monolithic undertone.¬†
“As soon as they boys sent me ‘Cameleon’ I had to have it. It’s a crazy tune, I’ve been playing it out loads and it’ll always be a special track for me as the first record I signed to Knee Deep!”¬†
Remixes come from Daley himself, who turns in some of his finest work to date. You can tell Yorkshireman’s been reveling the 5 ¬≠hour minimum DJ sets; this is straight up 4am journey business! And as if that was enough, Paul Ritch delivers a Carl Craig¬≠esq rework fit for a King. Think Amnesia Terrace at 9am!¬†
