(Belgium) – Sharko, Zita Swoon -, Buda Musique (France) – Mulatu Astatqe -, GDM Music (Italy) – Ennio Morricone -, Ici d’Ailleurs (France) – Yann Tiersen -, Irma Records (Italy) – Jestofunk -, Productions SpĂ©ciales (France) – Dub Incorporation -, Subterfuge (Spain) – Los Ronaldos, Marlango -….

“We are very proud to have been chosen by artists such as Barbara Hendricks and MC Solaar and by outstanding labels such as Frémeaux & Associés, Blanco Y Negro and Ocora to handle their digital distribution and promotion. Our track record and our experience in distributing and promoting top artists and labels effectively and internationally across a large distribution network is a key asset for our labels and our artists, and we are constantly working to stay ahead of our competitors.”, declares Denis Ladegaillerie, founder and CEO of Believe.

In addition to working with top artists and labels, Believe will continue to put a strong focus on signing and developing new artists. Thanks to its technology and its local presence in several European countries, Believe has built a unique capacity to effectively promote and develop artists digitally.

“Reinventing A&R, finding and developing new talent digitally has been a key focus of Believe from the first day we created the company. In the past twelve months, we have validated our A&R strategy and technology with two of our developing artists reaching the top digital single and album sales and many others reaching the top 20.” adds Denis Ladegaillerie.

In France, Aaron remains in the top twenty album sales with their first album “Artificial Animals Riding on Neverland” after reaching number one digital album and single sales (“U-Turn Lily”) in January and February 2007. In Scandinavia, Soko remains number one digital single sales with her debut single “I’ll Kill Her”.

Believe makes its entire catalogue of 70,000 tracks available in MP3 format

January, 17th 2007 11:41

Following the successful release of top 5 digital single “U-Turn (Lili)” by Aaron in MP3 format on the FnacMusic.com service in France in October 2006,  Believe, has agreed to make its entire catalogue of 70.000 tracks available in MP3 format to all major download services in France, including FnacMusic and VirginMega.

This decision taken in agreement with the labels and artists represented by Believe will make the largest catalogue of French, Belgian, Italian and Spanish independent labels available for download in MP3 format in France.  The clients of VirginMega and FnacMusic will now be allowed to download MP3 tracks from artists such as David Vendetta, Kaolin, Tony Allen, Keny Arkana, Stomy Bugzy, Mulatu Astatque, Paris Jazz Big Band, Alabina, Magma, Manu Dibango…

For this occasion and for the first time, the catalogue of leading French publisher Frémeaux & Associés will be made available online.  The first collection to be released is the multi-award collection “Quintessence Jazz”.

Given the success we have had with our earlier experimental releases of tracks in MP3 format, we believe that the availability of catalogues in MP3 format has a potential to drive higher download music sales for our labels and artists and for the music industry generally.  Adoption of the digital format by music consumers is still in its early stage and all must be done to accelerate the trend:  easy-to-use digital download services, a simple pricing structure and the possibility to listen to digital music tracks on any device are the key to accelerating consumer adoption.
